The Wedding by Marilyn Leavitt Imblum

According to my record, I stitched this piece for my friend as a wedding gift. I am sure I have a picture somewhere but I just can't find it right now! It is gigantic. I think I had that in mind for myself but no groom in sight at the moment so....................letting it go to a good home.

You can find the "official" picture here from MLI Design.

Mitten - Patches by Cricket Collection

I started to do the mittens...I just thought they are so adorable on BIG count fabric. They should be easy to finish. This was the first one.

2001 Folds: August by Shepherd's Bush

Size: 37w x 60h

The specialty stitch this month is the floral stitch. Personally, this is too much backstitching for me. But I love the eggplant button.

Sweet Flower Sampler by Drawn Thread

I started this piece at the end of July. When I was at the retreat, I realized that I didn't do my homework to come up with a RR idea. At the last minute, I figured adding everyone's name on the bottom of this piece would actually make a beautiful piece. And I would be within the RR guideline of using alphabet and only stitching each other's name. I think this will be a bell pull.

Rose Treasure Bag by M Designs

Mary of M Designs came to visit with us during the retreat. Each of us picked out a kit to work on. I picked up this one. I think the fabric is Maple Sugar by Lakeside linen. Tobie was nice enough to serge everyone's fabric. This is more like a chatting group than a class, as we were enjoying the talking and looking at her latest designs.

A Star Spangled Day by JBW Designs

The months of June and July were very busy for me, as I moved into my own nest after a long year of wandering the globe. Curtains are hung, towels are in place, oven is operatable and the sink seems to be holding up water. Now, I just need to have some down time at home to enjoy my new HOME!

Size: 56w x 56h

At the last count after the recent move, I was amazed that July 4 is the second most projected oriented holiday for me after Christmas. Perhaps it is the middle of the year and it doesn't have a lot of "competing" holidays for attention! This is another limited edition kit I acquired from a past sale. The kit came with a pre-finished tuck pillow, how convenient! I chose WDW overdyed, as the design itself is quite simple. The variation in colors should add characters!

Flower ABC by Elizabeth's Designs

Size: 65w x 65h

I am in trouble. It is the third week of July before I finished this! Here, I am going to meet with a stitcher group at the end of month. We are supposed to bring an exchange gift, I just don't seen to have the time and motivation these days to stitch much. I have been in Singapore and have not found even a few minutes for this. Ok, finally got it in this wonderfully sewn tuck pillow. Just Perfect!!!

2001 Folds: June by Shepherd's Bush

Size: 37w x 60h

Fabric is 28ct Antique Ivory. Plum Honey Thread Gatherer hand painted silk is used on the specialty stitch: The Rosette Stitch. It is definitely fun to do the Rosette Stitch. I think I would love to adapt it in my other pieces.

Fanciful Blooms by Ewe & Eye & Friends

Size: 136w x 136h

This was a class kit from the VMS retreat I attended last year. I chose this class because I thought I was learning stump work. This is a different kind of stump work than I expected. It is much simpler and probably faster than the needle weaving kind.

The piece is stitched on Glengee linen (forgive me if I misspelled). The linen is very nice. It is thick and easy to handle. I used hoop when I stitched. But this piece doesn't show it and it is so easy to iron out any wrinkle.

The piece is stitched using Anchor and WDW threads. Specialty stitches include the aforementioned stump work, Kam's coils, smyrna, rhodes, and lots of satin stitch. The original instruction uses French knots on top of the stump work. But I selected to use beads in place of all French knots.

Gypsy Heart by Shepherd's Bush

Size: 110w x 40h

Mom preordered her Mother's Day gift this year. She wants something a little bigger in size. My first choice was a design by the Crossed Eye Cricket, but it would take too long to gather the chart and material while this one is already packed together. Yes, it is a little smaller in size than what Mom is thinking about. But giving my current travel schedule, it will have to do. This piece is filled with lavender and purple colors, quite strong color family for something designed by SB. I am also trying out a new frame shop. The frames there, unfortunately, are bigger and more ornate than something I normally choose for my stitching. How I miss my framer in Houston!!

The English Sampler Pincushion by The Nostalgic Needle

Size: 60w x 83h

I began stitching this pincushion on my vacation trip to London. It is a first for me to stitch something by Sharon Cohen. I love her intricate designs. In addition to the traditional cross stitch, this one utilized long armed cross stitch, queen stitch, tent stitch, satin stitch, upright gobelin stitch, and eyelet over 4. The final one simply amazing. The most difficult part is the tent stitch over one on the Celtic knots. Way too tiny! I used DMC and 32 ct Dirty linen.

Size: 37w x 60h

This is the perfect kit to stitch on the way to England. That same Sunday was the St. Paddy's Day. Fabric is 28ct Waterlily Linen. Specialty stitch is one called "The Irish Stitch". Somehow the Amethyst Wildflowers in my kit was missing! Improvise, improvise!

Red Heart by Heart in Hand

Size: 37w x 37h

This is the perfect kit to stitch in March in between both St. Patrick's Day and Valentine's Day. Ok, the border was a little too boring to stitch. But it sure matches well with the pillow. WDW used: Ivy, Garnet, Mulberry. GA used: Flax and Oatmeal.

A Winter's Night by Brightneedle Designs

Size: 100w x 90h

This kit was purchased because I wanted to try out the new milkpaint silk. Silk is wonderful! The colors of the milkpaint is antique and should be used on darker fabric. My choice for the burgundy color linen is ok, a little darker may be even better.

Lady Scarlet's Journey by Just Nan

Size: 45w x 171h

A limited edition published by Just Nan. It is very colorful. I personally think it is a little too much DMC 500 series. When it was finished, I love it. I just have to do Barnabee's Quest now.

Winter Into Spring by The Drawn Thread

Size: 34w x 137h

It is already into the second month of the new year. Time seems to fly faster these days. I am often fly from one time zone into another. On the weekend, I may be in sunny California. And by Monday night, I be walking toward the parking lot in the snow on the East Coast. I thought this is a very appropriate piece for my current state of mind. This piece was very fast to stitch. At the same time, I don't know when I would actually get into the mood to stitch its companion piece.

Snow Flower Sampler Accent by Periwinkle Promises

This silk kit belongs to the first year linen & silk kit designs. The fabric included is 29ct raw Cashell linen. Kreinik's Soie d'Alger silk was used. Specialty stitches include Holbein stitch (first border), double back stitch, long-armed cross stitch, smyrna, and upright cross stitch. the Holbein stitch can be challenging. I chose to work on this piece because January is still a winter month and I love snow. I was going to finish this when I was in Lake Tahoe this past Christmas. Just my longing for white snow!
